I grew up in California and traveled through Santa Barbara County many times on family road trips. In my 20's I was on the wine cooler bandwagon with my college mates, with the occasional venture into white wines. Sideways was the movie that changed that for me. Paul Giamatti's character's passion for pinot noir was what pushed me to try my first red - a central California pinot noir - and I'm glad I did. That one glass opened the door to decades of enjoyable wine exploration.
